Student work is not a product.
TeachRoster is used by children. That shapes every decision below — this page is written to be read by a teacher, not a lawyer.

The short version
We never sell student data. We never show ads. Students don’t need an email account to use TeachRoster — they join a class with a code their teacher shares.
What we collect
From teachers: name, email, the classes you create, and the material you upload to generate homework.
From students: the name their teacher enters on the roster, their answers and submissions, attendance marks, and scores. Email is optional.
Automatically: basic technical logs needed to keep the service running and secure.
What we never do
Sell or rent personal data. Show advertising. Build advertising profiles of children. Share a student’s work with other students. Use student submissions to train public AI models.
AI and student work
When a teacher generates a quiz or requests AI grading, the relevant content is sent to our AI provider to produce that draft. Teachers review every AI draft and every suggested grade before students see anything.
When a student uses AI help on homework, we keep a lightweight record that help was used. Teachers see summary-level activity — not a transcript of a student’s private thinking.
Who can see what
A teacher sees their own classes and the work of students in them. A student sees only their own work and feedback. School-wide and parent access do not exist yet; when they do, they will appear here first.
Keeping and deleting data
Teachers can delete a class or a student record, which removes the associated work. Ask us to delete an account and we will do it within 30 days.
Beta status
TeachRoster is in beta and free for teachers. Today the site is a demo: there are no accounts yet, it runs on sample classes and sample students, and nothing you type into it is saved anywhere.
The sections above describe how TeachRoster handles real data as accounts roll out. When that happens, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes.
Contact
Questions about privacy, or a request to delete data, go to hello@teachroster.com and we answer within a few days.
The team behind TeachRoster is responsible for the data described on this page. If your school needs our registered details for its own paperwork, ask and we will send them.
